STAR*NET Certification 2 : Introduction to Least Squares and the STAR*NET Interface
Learn the fundamentals of least squares adjustment and how to use STAR*NET to perform least squares adjustment.
Prerequisite:
This course will introduce a new or experienced STAR*NET user to the fundamentals of least squares adjustment and how this determines field procedures and techniques you will use in STAR*NET. We begin with a simple comparison of field procedures and computational steps in traditional traverse adjustment vs least squares adjustment. Taking advantage of redundant measurements is a principle advantage of least squares, and we will discuss features and procedures with STAR*NET which will make the best use of redundancy. We will complete this lesson with a discussion of all the major components of the STAR*NET interface and practice using them and identifying errors with a simple conventional network exercise.
